Best Alcohol Free Hair Products

Some hair products make your hair crunchy, stiff and flaky. It’s best to buy a hair product with little alcohol in it as alcohol is the culprit of having dry brittle hair. Some alcohol in a hair product is not harmful, but if alcohols the first or second ingredient then look for something different.

If a hair product contains very little alcohol to the extent that it’s not harmful to your hair, I call them “alcohol-free hair products”. Here are some of my favorite alcohol free hair products. These products won’t make your hair sticky or crunchy and give great style!

Best Frizz Fighting Hair Product

Best Hair Product for Shine: I love Redken Vinyl Glam Mega Shine Spray. Vinyl Glam is a great product for both curly or straight hair because it sprays on shine and fights frizz without adding wetness. After you flat iron your hair, you can spray on Vinyl Glam and it creates incredible shine, takes away frizz and smooths your hair. Redken Vinyl Glam will not make your hair oily or greasy, no matter how much you spray on. This is a must have hair product!

Best Texturizing Hair Product

Best Mousse: Redken Touch Control 05 Volumizing Texture Whip. This is not your average hair mousse! Redken Touch Control Texture Whip gives volume and definition to your hair while still maintaining movement. This mousse will not make your hair stiff and it’s lightweight mild control feels clean to the touch! This is also a hair product that will protect your hair from heat and breakage. This is a great hair product for air-dry styles.

Best Curl Defining Hair Cream

Pureology Real Curl is something I use every day. I use Pureology Real Curl on my wet hair before diffusing it. This styling cream separates my curl and keeps my hair frizz free. When I use Real Curl my curls have great definition and hold without any sticky feeling or residue. Get perfect curls with Pureology Real Curl. My tip for curly hair: use a styling cream on wet hair instead of a sticky gel. You will get definition and separation without stickiness. Real Curl is the best curl styling cream I have ever used!

what’s some of the name of the alcohol ingeredients that are used, and we should avoid?

Like PriNce, I would love to know other names for the alcohol ingredients we should look to avoid. My 2-year old daughter and I both have curly hair and need products that moisturize/condition, detangle, and defrizz without drying it out.

I have skin lupus and I am under doctor’s care. Doctors aren’t very helpful in recommending hair and body care products. On a lupus site it said to avoid products with alcohol. Can you recommend products for hair and body that are gentle with no alcohol? Especially looking for a good alcohol free hair spray.

My mother introduced me to the Shielo Volume Hairspray a few years ago and I have never gone back to another product and or even tried a new product. I definitely found what I was looking for with the hairspray. The price is good for a premium hairspray. It is lightweight but holds very well. It doesn’t leave any residue on your hair no matter how much you use! I can spray my hair at five thirty in the morning and when I come home around four o’clock in the afternoon my hair is still held nicely in place.

I also sometimes use it when my hair is still wet to add volume and hold. It is the best hairspray I have ever used and I would recommend it to anyone!

Do you know that the two Redken products you listed have denatured alcohol as their primary ingredient? Denatured alcohol is worse than regular alcohol since it contains dangerous and poisonous additives. Google it and you will see:
“Denatured Alcohol is a gentle, multi-purpose solvent, which is essential for thinning shellac and cleaning brushes”
    and
“Denatured alcohol is ethanol to which poisonous and foul-tasting chamicals have been added to make it unfit for drinking.”
    Just wanted to share <3

I'm really intrigued by the Pureology product! I will try it when I get the chance!
